Oracle
Recovery Manager JumpStart
RMAN
Oracle’s new flagship tool for protecting databases is called
Recovery Manager (RMAN). RMAN has many benefits over traditional
backup and recovery methods.
Benefits include:
–
Easier Commands
– Smaller Backup Size
– Corruption Detection
– Ease of Use
Though
RMAN is a valuable free utility supplied with Oracle software, many
shops have been slow to adopt this recovery tool. Administrators
have become accustomed to data protection methods like complete
backups or tape vendor backups. Many have the intention to use the
new RMAN features but have not taken the time learn and experiment
with it. Fact is, most administrators are busy and haven’t
much time to take on new projects. Yet they miss out on the biggest
benefit to using RMAN – simple recovery.
The Inplexus Solution
Inplexus has over a decade of experience with Oracle products with
specialization in Backup and Recovery products like RMAN. Having
authored a book "Oracle Backup and Recovery 101", numerous
articles on RMAN and made a recent University presentation at the
International Oracle User’s Conference, Inplexus staff are
uniquely qualified to get your shop up and running on Oracle’s
Recovery Manager.
Inplexus will provide instruction to your IT staff on Oracle’s
Recovery Manager. This instruction will be specifically catered
to your environment and will include best practices for RMAN deployment.
In addition, Inplexus will work with you to create a sample database
for the purpose of testing and training on backup and recovery using
RMAN. Provided that resources are available, Inplexus can restore
and recover your production or test databases to another location
as a way of verifying and validating the RMAN processes.
Most importantly, Inplexus will work with your staff so that they
will gain the experience and confidence of working with RMAN in
